Due to aging all the passive components inside the amplifier are now out of tolerance masking the true sound and performance of the Leslie cabinet. 

This will result in weak amplifier, lack of bass, muddy highs with hum and pops when changing Leslie speed. Do not try to troubleshoot a vintage 122 amplifier! Simply rebuild it properly and all your problems will disappear!
